Jobs Training Program Graduating First Class
First Construction Ready Training Program on Atlanta’s Southside
The Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance, The Construction Education Foundation of Georgia, HB NEXT and Worksource Georgia – Aerotropolis partnered to create a training program that will give area residents the skills they need to fill jobs in their local communities –and the first 13 trainees will graduate from the program on Friday, August 25, in the sanctuary of Impact Church.
The 7 women and 6 men graduating on Friday all live in the Aerotropolis region, and represent the cities of Atlanta, College Park, the City of South Fulton, Jonesboro, Riverdale, Morrow/Lake City, Union City, and Forest Park.
The month-long construction training program, which provides trainees with skills and certification needed to begin careers in the construction industry, has been offered before in Gwinnett County and Westside Works, but this is the first time it has ever been offered anywhere on the south side of Atlanta.
“The Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance is proud to provide a proven job-training program for workers who will now be able to participate in the economic boom happening around the world’s busiest airport,” said Shelley Lamar, Executive Director of the Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance. “And we are enormously proud of our graduates.”
Seven employers have signed on to interview the 13 men and women –as soon as they officially graduate.
